5 Damaging Exercises Most Women (and Men) Should Avoid…. and Which Exercises To Do Instead (in the podcast)
1 – BURPEES
Even Kate Upton’s trainer, Ben Bruno, agrees with us on this one. BURPEES are stupid – flat out nonsensical and unnecessary.
Burpees cause injuries ranging from shoulder tears, lower-back disc bulges, broken toes, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome – and a few others…
It makes ZERO sense to do any exercise that has such a high risk of injury. It just totally defeats the purpose in the first place.
==> Fitness is about making us better – not worse.
2 – Momentum Kettle-Bell Swings and Lifts
Let the athletes do the athletic moves, especially if they wish to compete in those specific events.
For the rest of us – WE DO NOT need to do risky kettle-bell exercises in order to get healthy, fit and strong.
From tendonitis to head trauma – swinging kettle-bells can lead to unwanted outcomes and MAJOR setbacks…
3 – Squats with a Straight Bar Across the high-back/shoulders
Too often weighted squatting in an awkward position produces intense internal pressure that pushes with high force on the pelvic floor…
This leads to pelvic floor instability, pain, ligament damage – and we can also add in hemorrhoids on the back end.
This zone brings about some embarrassment for those who suffer the consequences of this type of injury – so most people just keep hush about it and go quietly for physical therapy treatments and rehab.
4 – Box Jumps
Want to increase your chance of knee injuries? Then do more box jumps.
We DON’T advise that – but the point is so many people suffer injuries from box jumps, it’s scary.
Even worse is that these can also cause strained calves and/or Achilles tendons. And
And when a knee, calve or Achilles is injured – you are down and out until fully healed (which can take a LONG time sometimes)
5 – Dead-lifts
This exercise for the serious gym fanatic and crowd follower is responsible for so many back injuries and hamstring injuries…
From ligaments to muscles to tendons to discs… lots can go wrong – and every day it does…
In all the fitness centers, gyms, health clubs around the world – people are getting hurt by doing dead-lifts.
All you need to do is a search for “dead-lift injuries” and you’ll have hours of reading, videos and photos to looks at…
But we’ll save you the time here and just let you know you should avoid traditional dead-lifts.
==> Again – your exercise program is supposed to HELP YOU …. NOT hurt you.
And that is the essence of our approach to proper fitness training for the benefits of an enjoyable and vibrant life…
A stronger body… a stronger mind… a stronger spirit. Better health, wellness and LONGEVITY…
A high quality of life is what you deserve. But you can only do that with a fully functioning body that is not hampered by injuries and issues.
